The Warn ProVantage 4500 ATV winch is a super duty winch for UTV’s. When choosing a super duty UTV winch consider how much use it will be getting and determine if you’re better served by going with a less expensive model or the premium model with the better warranty. Keep in mind a “Rated Line Pull” of 4,000 or 4,500 lbs can only be achieved when the cable is spun all the way out leaving the drum bare and then on the first layer of cable being retracted onto the drum will pull at 4,000 or 4,500 lbs. Each layer of cable on the drum reduces the amount of pull. So in the event that you get your side-x-side buried and the winch won’t pull it out with only 10-20 ft. of line out, you’ll need to empty the drum to achieve max pull. Or you have the option of carrying snatch blocks which double the rate of pull and allows you to not have to empty the drum to get a full pull. This comes in handy when the UTV is super stuck and the anchor point is a short distance away, the snatch blocks make it convenient to not have to empty the drum and then spend all that time re-spooling the drum.
