ATV Bumper Review

When digging into this product type I quickly realized that there’s not a whole lot of brands and models to choose from. For whatever reason, sport ATV’s seem to get a better selection in this category with access to quite a few brands and dozens of models to choose from. Unfortunately utility quads get about a hand full of brands to choose from and one bumper model for each ATV make/model. Seems a little jaded when the truth is 4×4 quads some times get used like bulldozers when cutting a new trail or pushing a buddy out of the mud. An ATV bumper can make a big difference in certain situations like these.

But even with a limited amount of bumpers to choose from, their built by some well respected brands and they know how to deliver the resilient structures we need to keep up with the beating we give ’em. All the bumpers we found are built to last and help protect the quad from dangerous elements. Don’t worry about these bumpers not being able to withstand a hit. The bumpers featured here are made from heavy gauge steel and chances are you’ll need a stretcher from the crash before you need to fix a weld on these bumpers.

Each brand offers different elements to their designs. Some like to utilize expanded metal while others like the crisp elements of laser cut sheet metal. Powder coated finishes are a staple in this category, so it’s going to take quite an impact to chip the paint. One of the major differences I seen was how some brands were able to design the bumpers to flow with the lines of the ATV effectively, while others were built to look like they were designed for war.

Each brand was also thoughtful enough to offer matching back bumpers. Now you may think that spending a couple hundred on a back bumper isn’t necessary or maybe  it’s something that can wait till last. But I suggest you protect your rear end before the guy behind you isn’t paying attention when you have to spike your brakes on the trail and he or she runs full bore right into the back of your quad and trashes that performance exhaust, fancy taillights and that perfect plastic that all cost bundles to replace; a lot more then what you’ll have in that rear bumper. Believe me, it happens more often then you think. I’ve been ran into and I’ve also ran into someone. It just happens and good bumpers can make the difference between laughing it off or getting into a brawl in the woods.

We’ve included a list of leading ATV bumper brands and links to the best online stores to get them. If you have any experience with any the brands of bumpers please comment below and share your thoughts.
